libtool and lttctl

I'm sorry to ask this stupid question when there are exciting kernel
markers going on, but I'm still working on trying to get lttng onto
this arm board.

As I understand it, lttctl depends on liblttctl, and libtool is
mediating the dependence somehow.

Is there a way of telling libtool and/or configure "no, I don't want
any libraries, I just want you to make me a binary executable"?

For specificity, I'm trying to cross-compile lttng 0.5.76 and
ltt-control 0.13 for an arm board.
