Well, the only thing upgrade does _not_ do in such circumstances is to 
_save_ the configurations files if _any_ error/warning occurs. We 
typically cannot roll back the packages for lack of space but upgrade 
does _not_ save configuration files. After an upgrade your system is 
still working perfectly well, possibly with patched configuration files 
which may have additional parameters. When we cannot patch the config 
files you will see WARNINGS. Maybe I can add some text to the outcome 
explaining a bit more. The failures you saw are really minor.
