OK, methinks I will try to reconstruct beta1 and eliminate the errors until
I get a clean upgrade to RC1. I am curious to see if the configuration
files get cleaned up.

By the way, what happens when you upgrade a version to the same version???
That's what I accidentally did this morning (rc1 to rc1). Would that clean
up the configuration files, or do nothing?
