libcap.so.2 not found

I am running Bering-uClibc_7.2.0_x86_64_syslinux_vga just fine on a generic
pc box. When I try to boot  7.2.1-rc1 from usb, I get a message that
libcap.s0.2 is missing and the ip address of eth0 can't be determined. This
isn't the result of my configuration, I get the same message using the
default setup. I can login ok from the console but there is no ip address.
