Hi,

The reason I'm not very keen on updating hostap drivers is stability. 
It took a lot of time to find a combination of hostap driver 
patches/firmware which are stable under any kind of load.

I'm not against adding new hostap driver, but that needs to be done as 
an option instead of the current one (not replacement), by somebody 
who can spend time and resources on testing.
