I don't know why it failed for you, but the latest version of ncurses in the current 
development version of LFS is ncurses-6.5-20250531.tgz.  Give that a try.

A question though.  Has the /mnt/lfs directory been cleaned?  That is, at the start 
the only directories should be /mnt/lfs/sources and /mnt/lfs/jhalfs.

I'll note that we do a full jhalfs build before every commit that updates a package 
with a new version.  There were no errors at the last commit two days ago.
