We should add -D documentation=false.  It's optional, not required.

It's because you've skipped a command in the book:

    sed -i '/if err:/s/err/proc.returncode/' gidocgen/utils.py

for gi-docgen.  See
https://github.com/GNOME/gi-docgen/commit/8cee7b324f23 (I have to use
the GitHub mirror because gitlab.gnome.org is extremely unstable at the
time point writing this mail).
