This dialog is separate from the Wallpaper settings in the main System Settings app, but seems to provide the same information. The main System Settings also shows the thumbnails. I just built kio-extras using the sources for KDSoap and KDSoap-ws-discover linked to from Arch, so it shouldn't be a problem for you if it isn't in the book, I would think.
