Generally a UPS is a separate unit that is plugged into a wall outlet and a device like a computer is plugged into that. I do not understand how localsearch or any other software on a computer can harm a UPS. There is no interface between the UPS and the computer other than the amount of power consumption. -- Bruce Note: In the United States the term UPS is overloaded.
