I tried a different workaround but was not successful.  I'll use your suggestion 
tomorrow.  I really don't like upstream making "oh so clever" changes to the way they 
make their packages available.  Really what's wrong with a simple directory list like 
Gnome and KDE use?

Right now I have 17 packages to update.  :(
