It depends on how many editors are making updates and how many new updates come in 
each day.  Many updates are relatively simple and can be done in a few minutes.

Is does get repetitious at times but an hour a day really goes a long way.  It is 
irritating when 'stable' packages are put out too often.  For instance I only update 
kde/plasma twice a cycle although upstream makes one release a month.

Overall there are also a lot of tasks beyond package updates.

And it helps if you are retired and do not need to go to work every day.  :)
