Far what it's worth, I'm basically certain any organization that has
more then a dozen IT employees/members and more then 5 years of
history has *at least one* ancient piece of software that is in actual
fact essential to a small but essential process in the organization.
Ordinarily, these kinds of softwares are run in "sarcophagus"-style
settings that basically preserve whatever the OS was at the time.

Since this software is used gainfully by the organization, this
software is "in production", and therefore the ancient OS-es are also
all "in production". xD Sometimes they're even exposed to Internet!

Think "dBase III application that the University uses for tracking
cancer patients, in 2011".
