I mistakenly stated in my post earlier today that ' I had not yet thought
to explore the sddm.conf file in my environment.'
This is patently wrong. I did in fact initially populate the sddm.conf with
the exact contents of the example-config.
This is how I was able to get SDDM working for user that chooses the
XWayland mode of operation before completing the logon.
I beleive the problems are in the [Wayland] section of the example config.
BTW, this example config does not reflect that I have
followed the BLFS guidance and used /opt/kf6 and /opt/qt6 as the locations
for these pieces critical to Plasma operation. Only
by adding some symlinks was I able to get the XWayland mode to operate.
These same symlinks are not sufficient to get Plasma
mode to operate. I am hoping that sicarine can document what edits to the
config file were necessary too make it work with the
use of /opt locations for kf6 and qt6.
