Dear All,

Thank you for your opinions, they are highly appreciated.

I managed to complete the entire part II of the LFS book and starting chapter 6 at the moment.
I am getting better on it (sed, patch, ./configure --..., make, make check, make install).
I did it on a USB memory stick entirely.
Thank you for pointing-out that USB memory stick is not an entirely good idea.
My laptop has SSD drive, so I guess, I just saved myself a bit of SSD health by using USB memory.
This was my thinking/reasoning behind using USB memory stick.
Once the whole LFS is complete, I intend to copy it over to SSD and then use it.

I do not wish to install all applications from the source (LibreOffice, Stellarium, GIMP, Firefox, Thunderbird, etc.).
I wish to get them using "apt-get". I.e. "sudo apt-get gimp".
The only thing I wish to build from the source is the operating system and the desktop environment (i.e. Xfce).
Then I wish to install applications through apt-get.
I hope this is possible.
Otherwise, my construction effort will take forever and I will never be able to reach a point, where I can actually use my computer.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best regards
Robert Wolf
