I've been reflecting on the decision to drop future development of LFS System
V. I've built at least one System V instance since 7.0, and one or two Systemd
along the way.
I feel far more at home with System V, and like to think I can sort out most
problems that arise. On the other hand, I've never really got to grips with
Systemd.
I fully understand the reasons behind the LFS editors' decision, and I'm
grateful beyond words for the amount of time and effort they've expended on
LFS over the years.
I'll build System V 12.4, if that is to be the swansong for LFS System V, and
see where things go from there.
I'd like to ask why LFS has maintained a separate BLFS book for the two
systems, as without wading through the two side by side, I imagine there
cannot be a great deal of difference
in how the packages install on the two systems?
