Well, I'm actually still not sure exactly how the module was being
loaded, but putting it in the hotplug blacklist stopped it. Early in
the boot process, Fedora displays the following on the console:

"Initialising hardware... storage network audio done [ OK ]"

wlan0 is not configured to start on boot, but maybe Fedora pre-loads
modules for all configured network adaptors. But that would, I'm
guessing, be via the alias in modprobe.conf, which I removed. Hmm.
Maybe kudzu has something to do with it. Anyway, it's not happening
now. :-)

I'm not sure either why, if the early initialisation was
hotplug-related, it didn't get logged as such. I have DEBUG=yes set in
hotplug.functions, net.agent, usb.agent and wlan.agent .

Anyway, it seems to be working so far, the only misbehaviour I've had
from the adaptor since has been attributable to me playing around with
hal and plugging in another USB device.

I think it would be well worth adding some comments about this to the
README, as it's an issue that seems likely to bite a large proportion
of prism2_usb users.
