AP Selection

I need to bind my WiFi to a specific Access Point.
When I try 'iwconfig eth0 ap 01:23:45:67:89:AB', I get:

'Error for wireless request "Set AP Address" (8B14)
   Set failed on device eth0 ; Operation not supported'

PCI wireless card is a Netgear MA311 with an Intersil
Corp. Prism 2.5 chipset, wireless-tools is ver.
26+27pre22-1.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
