problems with detecting linksys card

I have a card which should be detected just fine by Linux but for some 
reason is not working.  I'm using ubuntu 5.0.4.  The card is Linksys 
wpc11 2.5.

having read the documentation I've tried to manually load the module but 
I don't see any ethernet style devices and it seems that CPU load 
increases I am not positive there is a direct connection.

Any suggestions?
