Problems Setting Card in Monitor Mode

Hello,

I'm having problems settings my Dlink AirPlis DWL-650+  or my Compaq
WL110 wireless cards in Monitor Mode.

I am running the following command:

# iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor

or

#iwconfig eth0 mode monitor

In both cases, I receive the following error:

Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
    SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported.

I've dug up some dirt on Google, and determined this may have to do
with the fact that both my cards are using NDIS wrappers which do not
support Monitor mode.

Can someone please confirm if this is true?   

If this is the problem,  Can someone recommend a good PRISM2 based
chipset card with a powerful attena?
