Proxim RangeLan-DS trouble

Good evening,

I have a Dell Latitude LS.  I bought a Proxim RangeLan-DS pc card 
because I hear the chipset was favorable with GNU/Linux.  I have not 
gotten it working yet.
I have installed ndiswrapper -- this wasn't successful so,
I am trying to compile Wlan.  I can't seem to find the /usr/src/linux 
directory that the confi asks for.  How should I proceed?
