When I do a "cat > /proc/net/p80211/wlan0/nsd" to see what firmware I'm running, it says: > # prism2_usb version 0.2.2 (Thu Oct 13 00:13:39 CDT 2005) '$Id: > prism2sta.c1730 2005-06-22 14:18:09Z solomon $' > > # nic h/w: id=0x8010 1.0.0 > # pri f/w: id=0x15 1.0.6 > # sta f/w: id=0x1f 1.3.4 > > But the hex files are rf010804.hex and ru010803.hex for the secondary or > "station" , which should be the 1.84 firmware. And the primary should be > 1.1.4, since it has the af010104.hex files. > So I'm confused. Is linux-wlan not RAM-flashing the firmware as it > should or do I need to do something else? > Harmon Here is my nsd file after the firmware upload: ident: nic h/w: id=0x8010 1.0.0 ident: pri f/w: id=0x15 1.1.2 ident: sta f/w: id=0x1f 1.8.3 The firmware upload done by the wlan-ng scripts is only the ram upload, and will only affect the 'station' firmware - thus only the 'sta' line will be affected. Your output shows that even the ram sta upload is not happening - which distro are you on? Some distros (e.g. debian) don't having the firmware uploading stuff included in their scripts. To affect the 'pri' you will need a flash firmware update. I believe the prism2dl command can be used (manually) to do this, but I would recommend using the Windows utility if you can because any bug or instability could lead to toasting your card. The junsun.net site should give more info on this.
