This needs attention by the Spec Authority. I think the error from appcheck is ok here. Because if you link against the new Linux-PAM release, the resulting binaries will not run any longer on a system with the old PAM libraries. While if you link it on an old system, it will work on a new one. If we change the spec for PAM and add the symbol versions, we should do that only for LSB 4 and not for 3.x. Else we will loose compatibility with 3.0.
