Ok, I found the problem and the solution: I removed all the ~/.fonts.* , and now, it's fast again. I run cooker for years, and I think an old package config was interfering w= ith=20 a new version... So, if anybody has big slowdown at each X application start (if xclock take= s=20 40 seconds to load!), have a look at your .xsession-errors, see if there ar= e=20 logs about fonts.dir, and if yes, try removing your ~/.fonts.* files and=20 directories. =46red Le Mardi 24 Janvier 2006 20:44, patrick_darcy a =E9crit=A0: > On Tuesday 24 January 2006 01:33 pm, Frederic Marmond wrote: > > Hi Patrick, > > nope, leafnode doesn't solve (and I don't see why it could, it is not at > > all related!) > > Did you upgrade something else at the same time? > > > > > > Fred > > also i am running 3.4.2 not 3.5. > > do a google search for mandriva linux kio , there is some interesting stu= ff > there. > > > Le Mardi 24 Janvier 2006 14:58, patrick_darcy a =E9crit=A0: > > > On Tuesday 24 January 2006 03:38 am, Frederic Marmond wrote: > > > > Hi, > > > > I've upgrade yesterday with lastest KDE packages, and now KDE start > > > > and each application start is very very slow... > > > > Even for a simple 'kwrite' start, the CPU goes 100% for ~15 seconds, > > > > then 5 seconds of 'inactivity' (cpu usage ~2%), then the window > > > > opens.
