This is a bug report, not a chat. But for now i will make an exception because
maybe this bug can be renamed to "keep all configuration files on the usb key".

The response to your question is: no

Just a lot of important configuration files are kept in the usb key, but not
all. Some of them, like samba configuration files and others are readonly and
not remaped to the usb key. Maybe the mandrake folks sould remap ALL files or
just expand the range of remaped files to samba config and other also important
files.

I know that MandrakeMove is a Desktop system, but, when booted with USB memory
stick, /etc/samba/smb.conf should be mapped to the memory stick so I can
configure shares with samba.
