I used one like yours a while ago, but not on 2010.x

I have used Audigy 2 and 4 cards under 2010.1.

What drives is this card using? EMU10K1?

This should work with Pulse. One thing that is different now is that the 
usual mixer with all of the controls does not show any more. What I 
eventually did was to use the alsamixer command line mixer and set ot 
for the card in question and not the Pulse mixer. If you do that and 
look at all controls, you may see that you have a monitor set to on for 
recording, and this causes feedback.

As I recall, I had this happen many times back in the day. Just set the 
mixer to save the right state (alsactl store card#) will do it.

With one card that'll be card0.

You should find what you need in these links.

When you look at the alsamixer, pour over every recording control and 
look for the one set to monitor the output, then shut it off.

Some of the other Creative cards I have used have the optical and analog 
inputs backwards. And some Mandriva versions revert to the optical 
output by default. This seems to be fixed in 2010.1, but the optical is 
really analog and vice versa. this had to be set and saved in the 
alsamixer, as none of the usual mixer controls show in Pulse any mroe, 
as Mandriva defaulted to have it set. It used to be that the KDE or 
Gnome mixer showed all of the controls, but no more.

Bugs filed, we'll see what happens with 2010.2. At any rate, the symptom 
of that was no sound at all from the card.
