I had a look at the plugins document but I really want to be able to do 
things on the fly.  However, I have started looking at gwenview - had 
only had a cursory look before - and discovered the print assistant, 
which covers the issues pretty well.  As a command line junkie I always 
tended to use lpr in the past.  It would still be of interest to know 
why the lpr image printing options are being ignored though.
