Here's notice that I intend to submit Wordpress 3.0.3 to the contrib updates repository for all supported stable releases. Stable releases are currently still on 2.9.2. Upstream is not issuing updates to 2.x releases, they are only working on 3.0.x and 3.1, and 2.x is likely subject to some security issues that have been fixed in the 3.0.x series. There's only me and Funda Wang poking the wordpress package now and again, and neither of us has time to follow security issues, backport and test fixes for the 2.x branch. So it seems best to update all supported releases to 3.x. (I did email Funda to ask his opinion on this but he hasn't replied; I don't think he would disagree with the above, however). I've been running 3.0.x rebuilt from Cooker on my server for a while and had no issues, and the upgrade went smoothly, so this should likely not cause any trouble; but please do be aware of it. I will push the packages to contrib/testing and leave them there first for a few days, so you can test them and prepare for any changes you may have to make. Please let me know of any issues you come across. Thanks! (I'm also pushing egroupware from 1.6 to 1.8. But that's been in /testing for a while and no-one complained, and frankly I doubt anyone but me runs it anyway...) -- adamw
