I have gone through and re-installed the software. I have followed the
instructions to the letter, I've run # make install-hotplug. I've gone
into MCC and removed and reinstalled the printer using the URI as stated
in the instructions. I have the firmware lp0 file going into /dev/usb as
it's supposed to. When I run 

usb_printerid /dev/usb/lp0
Error: Inappropriate ioctl for device: GET_DEVICE_ID on '/dev/usb/lp0'

I get the above. I've pulled most of my hair out, I've restarted cups
multiple times and have logged out and back in multiple times. Now when
trying to print a file the printer icon in the task bar says the printer
is not connected. Any ideas?
