The partitions are as follows:- Primary 1 - Windows Vista ====== Extended 1 - 4 logical partitions for Distro 1 root, Distro 1 home, Swap, Common Data ======= Extended 2 - 2 logical partitions for Distro 2 root, Distro 2 home ======= Extended 3 - 2 logical partitions for Distro3 root, Distro 3 home ======= All linux distros use the same swap partition and I have found that the second and third distros just detected this automayically when installing. All home partitions contain symlinks to the Common data partition. As I mentioned I use the same user ID and UID for each distro. The only other gotcha is that now that most distros use UUID's for identifying drives you can find that the numbers sometimes change when reformatting to add/update a distro and I have found it necessary to use a live knoppix CD to do some housekeeping on occasions, I guess you could avoid this by using labels for the partitions in /etc/fstab but I have not bothered with this yet. The final thing to note is that although I am now using a separate extended partition for each linux distro it is quite possible to put more than one distro in an extended partition by just adding more logical partitions for it, and I have done this in the past HTH Peter ____________________________________________________ Want to buy your Pack or Services from Mandriva?
