It probably is.  On 2008.1 it is 2.8.2.  Try running hp-toolbox at the 
command line if you cannot find it in the menus.  From there you can do 
a test print (which probably goes directly to the device, side-stepping 
the queue).  Success there indicates that the connection is OK.  After 
that go back to CUPS (Webmin as John suggested or localhost:631 in your 
browser) and investigate the queues.
