No!

 When I try to install it from the BBC website I just get a never 
ending progress bar and nothing works. I get a folder ~/.adobe 
created which contains a number of sub folders, but the only file 
created  is one called .directory which only contains a time stamp.

On the other hand I have usually found get_iplayer very successful. 
The current version seems to do only BBC (not ITV etc) 
programmes. I generally download programmes I want and make a 
DVD with Devede.
