Now when I try --get the program comes up with something like "trying iphone option" and fails. One download started successfully but that was an experiment on a programme that I did not want. Confusing. When I try downloading from the browser I am told to install the iPlayer Desktop. After agreeing to that the installer goes through its paces, using /opt and saying installing ...whatever then comes up with an error 2004 on completion. "Sorry, this application cannot be installed" and then the never ending progress bar. My guess is that there are missing dependencies. The help page has a long list and the FAQ pages give explicit instructions for installing Air and its dependencies on a 64bit system. That is where I came unstuck. Nothing new in .adobe or /opt. I would be interested in HD versions of some of the programmes but iPlayer seems to deal in low resolution only. I was hoping that the Desktop would have more options. P.S. Just trying again with get_iplayer -g EastEnders: Trying iphone mode No iphone version for EastEnders omnibus Skipping iphone mode Then a successful lowres download of a single episode, exactly the opposite behaviour from last night's attempt. Have had no success with an index number or --pid. It is not clear which number or string is the pid.
