I had the exact same problem.
I have no idea why rpmdrake doesn't cycle.
Anyway, I removed all of the media sources from the media manager.
I went to easyurpmi.zarb.org set the options to manual and entered the media 
information in thru the command line in the same manner as in earlier releases 
of Mandriva.
Haven't had a problem since.
