desktop kernel upgrade on x86_64

In a word, DON'T

I know the desktop (KDE occasionally crashes and the update fixes that) is not 
ideal without the upgrade, but after the upgrade, it appears that ALL i586 
programs on your system will segfault.  There is an apparent problem with the 
most recent desktop update in context switching from long mode to 32-bit 
legacy mode.
