I upgraded by going to easy urpmi, selecting the sources for 2010.1 then
running from the console urpmi --auto-update -a. Same thing I did when
upgrading from 2009 to 2010 but with that upgrade I had no issues at
all. Not sure about the port 57175 since it changes each time I log-in
to the imapd process - imapd: LOGIN, user=chris, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1],
port=[50080], protocol=IMAP

It does use port 143 however:

Port numbers that connections are accepted on.  The default is 143,
the standard IMAP port.

configuring shorewall to allow ports: 143/tcp though I already had this
setup this way from way back checked to make sure thus the reload of
shorewall. 

I see nothing unusual in /var/log/messages, at least to me.
