Mandrake was a big deal back in the nineties because it was the first to 
produce an i585 distro when all others were producing i386 distros. That edge 
went especially with the rise of 64bit distros.

Most distributions have a "modern" tool for downloading and installing 
packages; irrespective of whether they be RPM, DEB or source based. YUM, 
Aptitude and Portage are a couple that come to mind. These like URPMI are 
typically just overlays on top of the DEB, RPM, or source based methods.
