I always find that this stuff (Linux) works "out of the box" but not as happily as it might. Last week I set up a dual Xeon server with 10.1 PowerPack+ and while it ran, I found problems with sections of webmin. Mandrake Control Centre hung many times as well. After a full security and bugfix upgrade which took a couple of hours, the whole thing is running very sweetly. For these reasons, I have always been a great promoter of the "other" tune - update, update, update. (The first tune of course is backup, backup, backup). My own servers and others I have installed are always up to date and always "sing" after these updates. My two cents worth!
