Again, FYI -

There does seem to be something odd about this kernel package. I changed
my source to Warwick, and started the install afresh. As before the
download completed and install started - but as it neared the end of the
progress box gurpmi again crashed and had to be killed. This time,
though, it had created the entries in /boot and changed lilo.conf.

I've rebooted. The first attempt had problems with installing dkms/nvidia,
but then it was OK the second time, so here I am using it. I'm concerned,
though about gurpmi crashing. FWIW I have used it to install a couple of
other packages between my attempts with the kernel, and they completed
correctly, which suggests that it's not a broken gurpmi.

Aside - the update to hal, dev and kernel have cured my camera woes. It
now mounts correctly.
