using mondoarchive on nonsystemd OS

Setting up a test on a 32 bit system to run mondoarchive to test out 
Devuan Ascii (like Debian 9) which is a fork of Debian without systemd. 
Any problems I should keep an eye out for?

does mondo prefer swap file or swap partiton?

I want to continue using mondo on these sytems if possible.
