Hello Jeff,

Thanks for the time you pass on this. Will look at the logs.

1/
Your use case wrt name resolution is perfectly valid, and i'll do what is needed to make it work. This is useful.
Not sure whether this is mondo (3.0.3+ changes) or distro that created the fact it's not working anymore. It may be linked also to a newer version of busybox included.

I found e.g. an issue linked to RHEL8 that I fixed in the beta wrt NFS support (change linked to the distro).
All that are moving targets, and it's sometimes difficult to cope with them (e.g. again the BTRFS subvolume support of SLES :-)

Name resolution isn't working for both EL6 and EL7 right ?

2/
Wrt EXTRA_SPACE, on of the goal in 3.3.0 is to remove it alltogether. At least from a user perspective. It's still in the code, but as I fixed the computation issue we had, I put it back to a small value (20MB), and for all my tests the automatic computation has been working fine, so didn't had to increase it again (I don't have it setup in my tests anymore).

So normally in your case:
INFO: bigdir size is 594832 KB
INFO: targetdir size is 530128 KB
So around 1GB for the ramdisk size.

and your conf file mentions:
ramdisk_size=1824960
so we're good (because you added 700 MB with EXTRA_SPACE, which shouldn't be needed anymore).

Does the system on which you restore has more than 2GB ?
If not that's the issue, and reducing EXTRA_SPACE should solve it.

If yes, then it maybe because the initrd built really needs more RAM (and I'd need to understand why).
In which case try at restore boot time to change the ramdisk_size=1824960 to ramdisk_size=4000000
so that we can see if all can be restored in RAM correctly before continuing. THat's probably why mondorestore is missing.

3/
Probably linked to new busybox. Normally using CTRL-D in the first terminal should reboot at the end of restoration (or when you're at the prompt in that term)

4/
Hummm if ISO size is 1GB and we try to create a 1.8 GB of boot content, there is an issue here !!
I'll see whether I can make a check between the 2 params.

So my recommendation would be to remove the EXTRA_SPACE param in mindi.conf and use a 2GB ISO to host at least the 1.5 boot content we need.

Hope that will help.
Bruno.

Versions after that store the NFS server name, and rather obviously if name resolution is failing, at a minimum I'd need to manually change fields at run time, or update /tmp/mondorestore.cfg.
