Hello Richard,

Thanks for the feedback.
MondoRescue needs at least one tool to create backup sets. It uses either afio or star.
However afio is an old project, not maintained anymore and moreover distros have removed it as having licensing issues.
(more on that can be found in the list archives if necessary).
I can build afio for ubuntu if that's convenient.

star is a much more up to date project however, and IIRC was part of ubuntu.
It seems that star is anlso a genomic project name, so that may explain some issues here.
The upstream project is here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/s-tar/

After searching more, it seems it has been removed from Debian as early as 2010 :-(
https://tracker.debian.org/news/652806/bug564806-removed-packages-from-unstable/

So I'll have to provide packages for both afio and star for debian and ubuntu in the future, and start thinking of supporting another archiver (dar comes to mind as it is in Debian)

Sorry for the inconvenience, give me some time to fix that.
Also I'd be interested by the other issues you had.

Best regards,
bruno.
