instruction to install ebtables.

hello there:
could some of you developers spend some time to make a more detail instruction as for how to install ebtables? so that users can have less trouble when they install ebtables.

I am having trouble to install ebtables. I have upgrade my redhat 9.0 from kernel 2.4.20 to 2.4.22 so I can apply a patch file: ebtables-brnf XXXX against 2.4.22-diff. and I have downloaded the ebtables 2.0.6 tar.gz file and make and installed it. but I can not get ebtables to run. When I use "ebtables -L" , I got error:" can't locate module ebtables"

I have spent a lot of time on ebtables.
