smb and brouter with ebtables

Hello:

 I first would like to apologize if this subject has been previously addressed or if it is the wrong venue for this question. 

Now, I have been trying to use Server Message Block (SMB) or Windows file share across a router. Now I know that is not possible by itself but I am under the impression that if one has a brouter setup between to LAN segments instead of just a router it is supposed to be possible. I don't know if that is correct either, but lets assume it is because I have used Windows file share across networks before.

Assuming it is possible (and I wouldn't mind clarification on this), I have setup a linux brouter using ebtables. I have used the example given on the ebtables web page http://ebtables.sourceforge.net/examples.html#ex_brouter. 

Here is an output of  my setup.

/sbin/ebtables  -t broute -L

-p IPv4 -i eth0 --ip-dst 192.168.0.3 -j DROP
-p IPv4 -i eth1 --ip-dst 192.168.2.2 -j DROP

-p ARP -d 0:50:4:66:71:7 -i eth1 -j DROP



Now this setup works as a bridge, I think,  it also works as a router, but I can't view the SMB shares from one computer to the other. Also, I should also say that I am in a switched environment (that is the hardware the brouter is connected on both sides are connected to ethernet switches on both sides, I don't know if that should make any difference). I have success fully connected to computers on the other LAN segment, but still not SMB. What am I doing wrong?
 
I don't know what else I should be providing so I can paint a more accurate picture. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
