Let me ask a different question.  Are you trying to run SMB across
NetBEUI or TCP/IP?  If you are trying to use NetBEUI, yes, you would
need to bridge the network segments together.  If you are trying to use
TCP/IP, no, you do not need to bridge the network segments together as
standard routing will work just fine (presuming that there is no
firewall in the way).

After you get the bridging and / or routing out of the way there are
other issues associated with SMB networking that could prevent your
computers from seeing each other too.  However before going down that
road and getting *WAY* off topic, let's discuss what protocol you are
trying to use.  Unless you have a really good reason (and I'd be
interested to hear it to see if it really is a really good reason) to be
using NetBEUI, I'd _*STRONGLY*_ suggest that you use TCP/IP and tell
NetBEUI where to stick it.
