I'm currently using Weblogic 6.1sp2 application server over SUNs Linux JVM (1.3.1_01) on RedHat Linux 7.2 (kernel 2.4.18) with a quite big application.

I readed a few months ago this article (http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/library/java2/) at IBM Developer Works site, and I get really impressed on how a different thread model can improve a JVM behaviour.

Now I'm planning in compiling the NGPT support on kernel and changing the libpthread on the system, my question is: There should be an improvement in application's performance just by changing the thread model or does Bea Systems has to modify Weblogic in order to properly manage the new threads?

btw, is it planned a patch against the new 2.4.19 Linux kernel?

Thanks in advance.
