What module > is oprofile looking for? The modprobe is being done in the opcontrol shell script, which you can find in <oprof-install-dir/bin. The opcontrol-based profiler has been deprecated for two releases and is no longer included in the 1.0.0 release (which is in release candidate phase). You can try hacking the script so it won't do the modprobe and subsequent test for modprobe success.
