Hi Henry,

It would be helpful to include the oprofile version that you have the problem with.  If you are using the oprofile-0.9.9-4.el7, then it is likely because the updated power8 events were added after oprofile-0.9.9 was created and the power8 event patch wasn't yet available.  There is a patch for the upcoming rhel-7.1 version of oprofile that includes the following patch:
