Well, I have one application running that updates the current time on a display 
via a serial port every second. That hangs.

I have a kernel driver for a status led. That is blinking along until I do 
"cardctl eject", then it stops and blinks again after pulling out the card...

No response on serial console and no response on network.

So I would call it "a complete hang"!

I can't imagine a process "relying on a running network". Anyway eth0 is still 
the main interface.

Does not help. Still the same.

But I just realized that "shutting down socket 0" is printed twice!?
Is that some indication?

Of course I was ! ;-)

Embedded PowerPC MPC855T with linux 2.4.20 and "Linux Kernel Card Services 
3.1.22" using "m8xx_pcmcia: Version 0.05, 14-Apr-2002"...

So what do you think about the two "cardmgr[43]: shutting down socket 0"???
