based on this, and your description (crash on modprobe serial), it
appears that the kernel serial driver is probing for "ISA" standard
serial ports at 0x3f8, 0x2f8, 0x3e8, 0x2e8 as on an x86 based PC.  And
this does bad things on this platform.

Maybe someone who knows more about the internals of the kernel serial
driver will know how to fix it to not autoprobe on this platform.
