dmesg shows pxa_pcmcia_suspend(0) and a little investigation has
discovered that the 'serial' script in /etc/pcmcia was doing a 'cardctl
suspend'.

I have commented that line out to facilitate things for now.

Yes. Unfortunately, there are problems: I can't get the card to talk to
me. The most I get from my ppp/chat attempts is a load of "^Q"s or
"^@"s. Most of the time, I get nothing. That's from the initial "ATZ"
attempt.

Also, I can't really get the card to respond to cardctl ident most of
the time now. dump_cis also produces strange information with manfid
0x0000, 0x0000. I'm rather confused now.
